Harmony Day , celebrated throughout the week of March 15-21, 2020, is the day Australia celebrates its cultural diversity. It is to celebrate the country's very diverse population, it is about respect, togetherness and a sense of belonging for everyone. Celebrated particularly on March 21 , it also includes the United Nations International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination . It has a proud history of being celebrated in Australia for over 20 years, with schools, churches, community centers coming together to celebrate the day with over 80,000 events so far( harmony.gov.au) . The message behind the celebrations is that ' everyone belongs '. This week in particular recognizes the successful integration of migrants into the country, all bound by core Australian values, regardless of language and culture differences.
